Morning spring detox smootie

I am fully back in the game, guys.
The truth is, I was working on my first e-book. I wanted to write about all I learned while reading, testing and trying different approaches to food. You’ll hear all about when to eat, what to eat and how to eat. I know it’s funny. As if you don’t know how to eat right? Well, you’ll be surprised at how much better you will feel after this and how much more energy you’ll have when eating differently.
My research is showing that even small changes in eating habits, such as which hours and what you eat at certain hours make huge changes to our metabolic system. The way we eat also affects our hormone system, as you’ll see in my book. Our digestion and metabolic system depends on hormones – insulin, leptin, thyroid hormones…
Food has a huge impact on those hormones, telling our bodies how to use food. Either we store fat or use it. Well, I am not a doctor and I don’t have any intention to heal people, but I do want to show you how important it is to eat whole foods and to eat them in certain ways… More about this in the book I mentioned.
Lately I have been trying to detox my body. I was especially keen on coffee. I don’t even remember the last time my day didn’t start with coffee. I didn’t just stop. My way was more relaxed and slow… You’ll hear all about this topic in one of my next blogs.
Last week was all about soups – bone broth, pumpkin, vegetable… all kinds of soups. I love how they warm up the body and heart. Especially if you use certain spices,which also work well with our hormones. I am crazy about pumpkin soup. I could eat it over and over again, every day, for the rest of my life. Not joking… It has everything you need – veggies, spices… I have a special way of making the soup that gives it that decadent flavour. It’s a must try!
But my day lately starts with a smoothie (when on detox) and I’ll give you one of my most favourite recipes.

Smootie

Recipe for Morning spring detox smootie

  • Handful of spinach
  • handful of berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries,...)
  • 3 tablespoons of protein powder (natural, stevia sweetener)
  • 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut butter
  • 3 tablespoons of ground flaxseed or chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of mac powder
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • fresh ginger to taste
  • 1/2 cup of whey, yogurt or water

Mix well and drink in the morning. You will get protein and the spinach will help you stay full longer.
