Spicy Stew

Here's another soup to warm you up on a cool day. Chili
powder gives this savory stew a little "kick".

1 pound
|
|
ground beef
|
|
|

|
|
medium green peppers,
chopped
|
|
|

|
|
medium onion, chopped
|
|
|
1
|
|
can (28-oz) diced tomatoes,
undrained
|
|
|
1
|
|
can (16-17-oz) peas,
drained
|
|
|
3
|
|
cans (15-½-oz. each) kidney or pinto
beans, rinsed and drained
|
|
|
1 Tbs
|
|
sugar
|
|
|
2 teaspoons
|
|
chili powder
|
|
|
1 teaspoon
|
|
garlic powder
|
|
|
1 teaspoon
|
|
ground cumin
|
|
|
1/2 teaspoon
|
|
salt
|
|
|
1/2 teaspoon
|
|
pepper
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
In a Dutch oven, cook beef, peppers and onion until
meat is browned; drain. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30
minutes.
