Spicy Stew

  

Here's another soup to warm you up on a cool day. Chili powder gives this savory stew a little "kick".

 

 

1 pound 

 

ground beef

medium green peppers, chopped

medium onion, chopped

can (28-oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

 

1

 

can (16-17-oz) peas, drained

 

3

 

cans (15-½-oz. each) kidney or pinto beans, rinsed and drained

 

1 Tbs 

 

sugar

 

2 teaspoons 

 

chili powder

 

1 teaspoon 

 

garlic powder

 

1 teaspoon 

 

ground cumin

 

1/2 teaspoon 

 

salt

 

1/2 teaspoon 

 

pepper

 

 

 

 

In a Dutch oven, cook beef, peppers and onion until meat is browned; drain. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

 

 

Yield: 6-8 servings
